Students got to meet the senator

On the 26th of May, students Stefan Kerig and Katherine Bergman had the opportunity to meet and speak with United States Senator Cory Booker.

Member of the Democratic party, Senator Booker has been serving in the United States Senate since 2013 as a Senator for New Jersey. Senator Booker was visiting Estonia from the 25th to the 28th of May on a diplomatic trip to meet the heads of the Estonian Government, as well as acquaint himself with various other individuals such as the students from Audentes International School.

The discussion opened with remarks from the head of the RK USA-Estonia friendship group Andres Sutt. After a concise introduction, Mr. Booker took to speaking about how he came into politics and what he did to achieve his position as a Senator. After a heartfelt story as to how he came to change the environment of his local town due to extensive activism, he presented us with the opportunity to ask questions. A respectable back and forth took place between the Senator and the students, in which we delved deeper into certain topics. As the meeting concluded, we also got the opportunity to converse with his advisor as well as a US Marine who was Booker’s security attaché.

This meeting allowed for creating a degree of friendship between ourselves and the Senator as well as Audentes International School and US activities in Estonia. We thank Senator Booker for such a wonderful opportunity.
