„Lahe koolipäev 2021” conference

On October 7th, some of our students got a chance to participate in the conference „Lahe koolipäev 2021”. It is an annual youth conference that has been held for the past 18 years. Every year there is one topic that the conference and the speakers of the conference focus on. There are always speakers from different walks of life, sharing their ideas and tips on the topic. This year the event took place in Alexela Kontserdimaja.

Throughout the day the participants had a chance to meet many interesting people, whose speeches were focused on how to be in the present moment, enjoy it and achieve your goals. Our students enjoyed, for instance, the thoughts of Tuuli Roosma, a television journalist and producer, who mentioned how important it is to share your goals with others in order to achieve them. Also, the host of the event, Toomas Laigu, was very energetic and inspirational and asked interesting questions from the guests, and created a really good vibe throughout the whole event.

During the breaks there was an opportunity to discover different higher education institutions and what courses they offer. There were booths set up for each institution and in some you could even try something yourself. For example, you could try giving a mannequin CPR with the help of people from Tartu Health Care College, or you could try on the actual army soldier’s equipment at the Estonian National Defense College’s booth. This gave a great insight into how many different options there are for pursuing education after high school.

It was a fantastic inspirational event full of entertaining activities which proved that a school day can be fun and educational at the same time.
